About Generasian - Volume 1
Wing To Fung and Edge Yang are featured on the cover of generasian’s premier issue photographed by Denise Hsu. Issue 1 looks at the relationship between East Asia and London – celebrating the creatives making a name for themselves within the world of fashion and design. We ask how creating away from home can both aide and stifle creative practice and explore how East Asian culture adapts to a British context. Inside you’ll find a mixture of news, features and editorials looking at a wide range of fashion related topics. From womenswear to fine art to street food we’ve spoken to the people making a name for themselves and those already established. With a menswear focus our stories aim to tackle taboos and stereotypes when it comes to what men’s fashion is, and explore the issues that many men interacting within a fashion context experience.
Our cover story runs alongside profiles of the South Korean womenswear designer Ethan Keem and hair stylists Kantaro Suzuki & Tomoya Yazaki of Tsuru+LIM among many others. Within this issue we also pay tribute to Ren Hang who during their life not only contributed so much to photography but also influenced a generation to engage and question their surroundings and explore the boundaries of art. Fashion Photographers, Denise Hsu and Emily Chan have lent their own individual perspectives to these stories making this issue a rich visual exploration of modern menswear and lifestyle.
